On late Friday night, a decision was made to postpone the Fraternity Cup Final. On Thursday evening, FSC was advised that there were several players from a club participating in the Frat Cup Final who attended a function last week. At this function was a player that worked within the Healthcare sector and had symptoms of COVID-19, and therefore had undertaken relevant testing.
As at Friday night, the results of the test were unknown and after consultation with the clubs directly impacted, FNSW and the FSC Board, it was recommended to postpone the game until the results were finalised.
All other games including the Bert Bampton Cup, Peter Webster Cup and the Bonnie Lassie were scheduled to proceed as advised in statements from FFA and FNSW. A communication was sent to all clubs and match officials outlining information in relation to match day etiquette that was to be put in place in line with current health and FNSW guidelines.
We are pleased to advise that on Sunday, advice was received from FNSW that the player tested negative for COVID-19.
FSC will continue to liaise with FNSW and FFA in relation to any further implications of COVID – 19 on all football activities and we appreciate your patience and support as we enter unprecedented and unknown impacts of the current landscape.
