Coniston FC showed little mercy, handing Bulli FC a 12-0 defeat at JJ Kelly Park on Sunday. Coniston had seven different goal scorers, with Karissa High and Brooke Love both netting a hat-tricks.
The warning signs were there right from the start of the match, with Clair Nguyen and Karrisa High missing good chances inside the opening five minutes.
It took Coniston just seven minutes to get the score ticking over. High crossed the ball in from the left. It was not dealt with effectively by the Bulli defence, with Nguyen sneaking in and thumping it home from a few yards out.
High weaved through the Bulli defence on 16 minutes before striking the ball back across goal into the bottom corner to make it two for the hosts.
Midway through the first half, Tianna Tortorella showed some class with a long-range effort that had precision and power, clearing the reach of Tiffany Stone.
Bulli FC seemed to stem the flow of Coniston’s attacking raids until the 40th minute when Brooke Love combined nicely with Nguyen to lay off to High. She still had some work to do, however, High turned swiftly and buried the chance to make it four.
Just 90 seconds later, Coniston got their fifth. Love running onto a ball over the top and making no mistake sliding it past Stone.
Coniston started the second half much the same as the first. Just a couple of minutes in, Raquel Withers found some space in the box. Her shot was well saved by Stone, however, High nabbed her hat-trick, cleaning up the loose ball.
Simona Spaseska got in on the action at 50 minutes. She got on the end of a delightful ball from Love to finish neatly, making it seven.
On the hour, Nikki Taylor can consider herself unlucky as her clearance skewed off her foot and into the goal, gifting Coniston their eighth.
Just a few minutes later, Tortorella did exceptionally well to disposses her opponent along the goal line. She drove along the line before cutting the ball back. It was only partially cleared with Spaseska pouncing on it from close range, burying the opportunity.
Coniston hit double figures on 77 minutes. Love from the edge of the box blasting high into the net, giving Renee Turner no chance.
Coniston wasn’t done yet. Substitute Ariana Fleming got in on the action after skipping past the defence before tucking it away.
Bulli’s Kitty Dubourdieu showed good determination late in the game to muster a chance however unfortunately, she pulled her effort just wide.
The scoring was rounded out on 86 minutes with Love again crashing her shot high into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
Bulli tried hard all day but were no match for a ruthless Coniston attack that showed they mean business in their first season in Women’s Premier League football.
Bulli’s start to the season doesn’t get any easier as they prepare to face Woonona FC whilst Coniston have the bye next week.
