New Level 4 Referee Courses – 2024

Football South Coast is excited to announce the commencement of four new Level 4 Referee courses at the beginning of 2024. The course has undergone an update, and the theory component is now conveniently available online through the Etrainu platform. After completing the online sector, you will need to attend one of our practical sessions outlined below.

Important Information:

  • Both registrations and online components must be finalized before attending the practical session.

Requirements for New Referees: All new referees must:

  • Complete the free online Laws of the Game modules via Etrainu.
  • Fulfill the online Level 4 Theory aspect (known as the Community Junior Football Match Officials course) via Etrainu, with a fee of $30.
  • Book their practical flags and whistles session. Choose one of the four available practical days listed below and register via Playfootball for the specific date.

Practical Course Details:

Course 1: Wednesday 24th January 2024
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Location: Balgownie Club house

Course 2: Tuesday 6th February
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Balgownie Club house

Course 3: Tuesday 13th February
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Balgownie Club house

Course 4: Tuesday 27th February
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: Balgownie Club house

Please note our last course for Tuesday 27th February is now FULL. If you are still interested in becoming a referee for the 2024 season, complete the Expression of Interest Form attached.

Team Referees Course** – Monday 4th March
Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm
Location: Judy Masters Oval, Balgownie

Please note only Team Referees should attend the referee course on the 4th of March*

Course Requirements:

  • Minimum age: 13 years old as of 1st March. Unfortunately, individuals not yet 13 at the time of completing the course cannot be accepted.
  • Participants must complete the online Etrainu Level 4 theory before attending the practical course. Confirm completion by emailing referees@footballsouthcoast.com.

Important Note: Once the online theory portion is completed, attendance at one of the specified practical courses is mandatory to become a qualified referee.

Practical Component Details:

  • Wear appropriate clothing (boots not needed). In case of wet weather, the course will proceed indoors.
  • Equipment (flags, cards, and whistle) and referee uniform will be provided during the practical session.

Course Registration & Payment:

  • Register for the theory component on Etrainu, with a theory cost of $30 (available after January 10th).
  • Register and pay for the practical course (including equipment and uniforms) online at Play Football. Choose the specific practical course date listed under play football New Level 4 Referees.

Course Gear & Uniforms:

All new Level 4 Referees will receive their flags, cards and whistle on the night of the course, you will need these for the practical component of the course. You will also receive your compulsory, Legea referee uniform (short sleeve shirt, shorts and socks) at this time.

Our supplier, Legea, offer Men’s shirt/shorts size: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL,3XL. A size guide is available HERE. Please note our shirt sizes do run small, we would recommend sizing up*

Socks sizes: 1 = kids shoe size 9-1, 2 = men’s shoe size 2-8, 3 = men’s shoe size 7-12.
