The league’s two leading teams face off for the first opportunity at silverware this season, heading into the Bert Bampton Cup Final on Sunday.
With the Premiership title race effectively down to these two clubs, their focus this weekend shifts to a winner-takes-all Final.
With seven out of the last eleven Cup Final winners coming from either United or Olympic, it’s clear the clubs are keen to add this to their list of achievements. Wollongong United are five-time winners, with Wollongong Olympic on three.
Both teams are coming into this contest in form and are unbeaten in their last six matches. United is coming off a big fightback at Cringila last Sunday, with Olympic dispatching the Falcons.
Wollongong United’s road to the final featured wins against Fernhill FC (3-0), APWE (3-1), and Tarrawanna Blueys (2-1). Wollongong Olympic, on the other hand, overcame Coniston FC (2-0), South Coast United (3-1), and Tarrawanna Blueys (2-1).
There are plenty of attacking threats in both teams, and one could expect some goals in this contest.
The Cup game kicks off at 2.30 pm at Crehan Park.

Bulli face Cringila Lions in the Youth Cup and the curtain raiser. Both teams are firmly in league playoff contention, with Cringila (second) and Bulli (fourth).
Cringila beat Bulli earlier this year 2-1, and a similar, tight contest is expected.
