Football South Coast is seeking Expressions of Interest from those who want to be part of our media team. The roles vary, and candidates are welcome to nominate for more than one role.
To be further considered for these roles, candidates must be available for weekend work, primarily Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons.
Match Reporters will attend games and report on the highlights, including goals and key moments. Reports are required promptly and must be well-written, using football-related terminology.
Ideally, candidates will also have their own transport or be in a position to get to various venues across the Illawarra. We are seeking people with good communication and writing skills.
Prospective candidates may be asked to write up some trial reports to assess suitability.
This is a casual, paid role.
Match Commissioners will be assigned to games where their role is fundamentally to liaise with the key stakeholders, i.e. team officials and referees. They will assess and report on various aspects of the match day, including ground criteria, match administration, match day experience, disciplinary matters and any other operational issues. Commissioners will be required to complete a checklist and report on each match day. We are seeking people with attention to detail, sound communication skills and report writing capability.
This is also a causal, paid role.
We are also seeking budding sports photographers who will help boost our media photo library. Approved candidates will be provided with accreditation to all league and cup matches. We ask that photographers share their images with us in return for photo credit on any publications. Photographers will work in conjunction with our Head Sports Photographer.
This is a voluntary (unpaid) role however, we offer substantial exposure to photographs along with unrestricted access to football grounds across the Illawarra. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and has a keen eye for detail.
Going forward, we plan on broadcasting some feature matches over the season and we are seeking match commentators. Working collaboratively with the camera crew, the match commentator is expected to have a strong understanding of the game and the league(s). Commentators will be expected to do some research on the teams and players and have a strong vocabulary.
