Match of the Round-Corrimal Rangers FC-0, Bellambi Rosellas FC-2 @Memorial Park
The derby between the two neighbouring clubs ends with Bellambi on top.
In the first minute itself, Shuhei Nagasawa set the mood for the game in the Rosellas’ favour as he launched his shot close to the post but was palmed away in the nick of time.
Luke Micallef latched onto a chance in the 9th minute as he got onto a ball beyond the defence and attempted to chip it over the keeper, but he was alert and collected it.
Five minutes later, on the other end, Corrimal had an opportunity as Isaac Leonard ran onto a high ball over the defence.
He couldn’t find the right connection as Zac Jovanovski caught it in his grasp.
Alhassane Camara showed his trickery on the inside of Corrimal’s box.
The defenders retaliated with a tackle but instead took down the winger to reward the visitors with a penalty.
Matt Richardson stood over the penalty spot and fired it in the middle to send the keeper the wrong way.
Bellambi up in front in the 29th minute.
In the 39th minute, Camara took on the fullback and got away with a cross from the flank.
The cross found Nicholas Newall at the back post, but the keeper pulled out a frantic save.
Two minutes later, Richardson swung a corner in, and Lucas Panayiotou ran to it and directed his header to the backpost.
A clearance off the crossbar by the defender wasn’t enough to get it off the line in time.
2-0 for the Rosellas.
In the next half, Panayiotou tried his luck from the past halfway after a loose ball came to him in the 50th minute
The fullback’s shot rocketed to the keeper’s hands, forcing a fumble, but he kept in control in the end.
The Rangers weren’t out of the game just yet as they had an opportunity to get back into the game in the 70th minute.
Isaac Wonson cut a ball back to Gareth Jenkins inside Bellambi’s box.
He whacked his effort close to the post, but the keeper reacted and tipped it over the bar.
The game went back and forth in the midfield, with neither side getting a proper shot on goal for the remainder of the game.
The match came to a close at 2-0 to the Rosellas.
Corrimal versus Figtree at their ground, it could go either way for both teams.
Bellambi will host in the next round, their visitors being Albion Park.
The last time they faced off against each other, the Rosellas came away with a win away from home.
Highlands FC-6, Figtree FC-0 @David Wood Oval
Flynn Hessenberger opened the scoring with his goal in the 24th minute for the Highlands.
Nathan Bishop joined his teammate on the score sheet as he netted his chance in the 29th minute.
Edward Goodall expanded the goal bracket, putting Highlands third in the 41st minute.
Six minutes into the second half, Fred Ash found the net to make it four to the good for the home side.
Keegan Rea made no mistake in putting the ball past the opposition keeper to make it 5-0 in the 56th minute.
The game became quiet on the goal front afterwards, though Xavier Wilshaw later broke the silence with his finish in the 89th minute before the final whistle.
Highlands finish the round with three points to stay in contention for third place and go into a bye in the next round.
The season isn’t over for Figtree in terms of finding another win as they take on Corrimal, who sit below them.
The game will be all square, as Corrimal’s form has improved over the season and they have the opportunity to pull off an upset.
Warilla Wanderers FC-2, Woonona Sharks FC-1 @King Mickey Park
Warilla pulled off a win with a red card and a goal against them late in the game.
The Wanderers were challenged heavily by Woonona, who came into their ground intending to stun their opponent with a possible upset.
Woonona managed to keep Warilla all first half.
The Sharks added misery to Warilla as a red card was shown to Jack Murray two minutes into the second half, as well as conceding a goal to the hands of Bede Clark in the 56th minute.
A goal and a man down in the space of 11 minutes, Warilla had their backs against the wall.
Warilla weren’t out of the game for too long as Akinari Sasaki knocked one into the opposition goal to draw both teams even in the 64th minute.
The clash between the sides looked to go right down to the wire.
Farshad Vladkhani stood above all as he answered to Warilla’s wishes with his goal struck in the 80th minute.
The Wanderers are crowned the winners in this match after being a goal and a man down at the start of the second half.
Woonona enter the next round with Shellharbour City away, a gruelling fixture for them to prepare for.
As for Warilla, they have a score to settle as they drew at home against Coledale, and now they face them again, this time away from home.
Albion Park FC-1, Coledale Waves JFC-3 @Terry Reserve
The game was about to finish 0-0 at halftime.
Albion Park, however, wanted to head into the break heads high with a goal and that they did with a goal by Conor Edenden in the 41st minute.
The forward has now scored in five games in a row for his side.
Coledale came out all fired up in the second half as Eduardo Bateman found the equaliser in the 49th minute.
Matthew Sadler capitalised on his team’s momentum as he put in the second of the game in the 58th minute.
Even though the Waves were in front, they were only in the lead by a minuscule margin and could easily be shaken with a goal back by Albion Park.
It took until the 89th minute for the visitors to put the game to bed with a game-sealing goal by Archie Tobin-Coldwell.
What awaits Albion Park is an away fixture against Bellambi, who only sit below by two points apiece.
Coledale now take on second-place, Warilla, the Waves’ home advantage could be key in something out of this match.
