Why is FSC launching an Academy?
FSC Academy has been created to provide a clear player development pathway for local footballers, supporting players from junior development through to community football and representative opportunities while building on the strong foundations established by The South Coast Flame.
What will be different under FSC Academy?
FSC Academy will deliver the Junior Development League (JDL) for younger players before transitioning to a model where older players represent their community club while accessing additional Academy coaching and representative opportunities.
What ages does FSC Academy cater for?
FSC Academy caters for players aged 9 to 18 years.
● Boys 9–12 and girls 9–13: Junior Development League (JDL).
● Youth: Players continue with their community club while participating in FSC Academy.
What representative opportunities will be available?
FSC Academy players will have opportunities to represent FSC at Football NSW Association Championships, Football NSW representative competitions and selected development tournaments and invitational events.
Will there be trials?
Yes. All Academy players will be selected through a trial process. Expressions of Interest, trial dates, eligibility requirements and selection information will be released in the coming months.
Will fees change?
Yes. Academy fees for youth players will be significantly lower than the current Flame program.
Fees for the Junior Development League (JDL) will continue to reflect the costs of delivering that program.
What if my child doesn’t want to join FSC Academy?
FSC Academy is one of a number of pathways available to players. Your child can continue playing for their community club or pursue opportunities with Wollongong Wolves, The Stingrays or another football program that best suits their goals and aspirations.
What happens between now and 2027?
Over the coming months, FSC will finalise the Academy structure, appoint coaches and confirm key operational details. Expressions of Interest for players and coaches will open, followed by the Academy trial process. Regular updates will be provided throughout the transition.
How can I stay informed?
Players, parents and coaches are encouraged to register an Expression of Interest to receive Academy updates, including trial information, coaching appointments, key dates and program announcements.
Registering an Expression of Interest does not form part of the selection process, it simply ensures you receive the latest information. You can sign up at the Football South Coast website.
