Laura Foreman: A Champion for Girls’ Football at Coniston JFC in the world of local football!

There are those who go above and beyond to make a difference. One such individual is Laura Foreman, a dedicated coach, manager, club registrar and advocate for female participation in the sport. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to Coniston JFC have not only transformed the club but also inspires young girls to pursue their passion for football.

Laura’s journey with Coniston JFC began three years ago when she took on the role of coach for son’s U6 team and managing her daughter’s U7 team. Little did she know that this would be the start of an incredible football adventure. Since then, Laura has become an integral part of the club, wearing multiple hats with pride and enthusiasm. Not only does Laura assist in coaching the U9 girls’ team, but she also manages the U8 mixed team, which includes her son. Laura’s contributions extend beyond coaching and managing teams. As the club registrar for the past two years and club Female Football Champion she has played a crucial role in supporting the club from an administrative and club enhancement perspective.

In 2023, Laura’s exceptional efforts were recognized when she was named the Club Person of the Year. This accolade celebrated her unwavering commitment to the club and her involvement in various fundraising activities. Laura’s commitment to initiatives, such as organizing trivia nights and fostering cross-club support between junior and senior teams, among many others has been pivotal in bringing the entire Coniston football community together. Her dedication to fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie is truly inspiring. One of Laura’s most notable achievements is the coordination and facilitation of the Coniston Mini Tillies program in 2024. This program, designed for children aged 4-11, saw over 50 attendees, with 75% of them registering to play for the club in the upcoming season. The success of this program has led Laura and the club to plan it as an annual pre-season event. Through initiatives like this, Laura is actively working towards increasing female participation in the sport and ensuring that every young girl has the opportunity to experience the joy of football. Laura’s passion for the game is infectious, and she is a firm believer in the positive impact sports can have on young girls. As a coach, she emphasizes the importance of fun, enjoyment, and building self-confidence. She encourages her team to always play with a smile on their faces and a positive attitude. Laura’s ability to connect with her players and explain the game in a way that resonates with them is remarkable. Her dedication to their development and personal growth is evident in their progress on and off the field. When asked about her journey as a coach, Laura humbly credits her desire to be more involved in her children’s lives and to instill in them the values of teamwork and sportsmanship. She believes wholeheartedly in the benefits of sports and wants to pass on this love to future generations. Laura’s advice to others who are considering getting involved in coaching or volunteering is simple yet powerful: “Just do it, don’t be scared.” She encourages aspiring coaches to utilize available resources, seek advice from both male and female mentors, and most importantly, have fun along the way. Laura’s dedication to coaching has even inspired her to start playing herself, rallying other moms from the club to join her in a five-a-side AAW team. Laura Foreman’s impact on Coniston JFC and the girls’ football community is immeasurable. Her commitment, passion, and unwavering support have created a safe and inclusive environment for young girls to thrive in the sport they love. Through her efforts, Coniston JFC has witnessed a significant increase in female participation, with teams now represented across multiple age groups. Laura’s dedication to growing and empowering the next generation of female footballers is truly commendable. We celebrate Laura Foreman as a true champion for girls’ football, an inspiration to all, and a shining example of the positive impact one person can have on a community.
