Shoalhaven FC has had an up-and-down season so far; however, their Cup form has been very good. They backed this up with a gritty 1-0 win over a determined Thirroul JFC on Wednesday night, booking themselves into the final.
Shaylee Meehan has been one of the league’s most potent strikers, and her finish just before half time proved the difference.
It was never going to be a pretty game with the cold and windy conditions making it difficult for both sides.
It’s been a fantastic effort from the girls down the Coast who are in their rookie year in the WPL.
It should be noted that they knocked off Woonona in the preliminary rounds.
Woonona, on the other hand, played their way into the final after a tight tussle with Shellharbour JFC, where they prevailed 1-0.
Beth Tomlinson turned out to be the hero as her lone goal on the hour was enough for the Sharks, who will take great heart from their performance against the league leaders.
Although confident, Woonona will be wary of Shoalhaven, and we look forward to an entertaining match between two sides who like to play good football.
FSC has introduced a Youth Cup in the Women’s space for the first time, with Bulli FC causing a boilover after defeating league leaders Woonona 2-0. Ava Hamilton put Bulli ahead just before half time, before Nikki Taylor secured victory in the 78th minute.
It’s been a lean season for Bulli so far, and making the Final will almost certainly give them renewed hope.
In the other semi final, Shellharbour JFC did enough to overcome Coniston FC 2-0. Both sides gave it their all however the experience of Shellharbour prevailed with Sofia Mieli putting them ahead on seven minutes.

The Julie Porter Cup Finals will be played at Ian McLennan Park on Wednesday 23 July.
