Female Football Week – Volunteer Recognition: Mel Forbes

As part of Female Football Week, we are proud to recognise Mel Forbes from Lakeside Lions for her incredible contribution and long-standing dedication to junior football within our community.

Mel has volunteered countless hours over many years to help ensure the success and growth of the club. While many parents may never truly see the amount of work that goes into running a grassroots football club, Mel is someone who consistently takes that commitment to another level.

Her passion and dedication have made a significant impact both on and off the field, helping to create a positive environment for players and families alike. Mel’s efforts deserve recognition for the many years she has devoted to supporting junior football at Lakeside Lions.

Mel has also been a driving force behind increasing female participation within the club. Over the past five years, the number of girls-only teams at Lakeside Lions has grown from 2 to 7, with expectations for continued growth again next season. Her work in encouraging more girls to get involved in football has played a major role in the club’s ongoing development and success.

We thank Mel for her tireless commitment, leadership, and passion for the game. Volunteers like Mel are the heart of grassroots football, and the Lakeside Lions community is incredibly fortunate to have her.
