17/08/20 – Chief Health Officer Letter to Sport and Recreation Organisations

nsw gov logo

We’ve just received some communication (and the letter below) from the Chief Health Officer to the sport and recreation sector recommending tightening restrictions on sport to reduce risk of transmission.

For our local competitions, our initial reading is that the below notes are the most important:

  • Cease face-to-face social activities relating to community sports (e.g. award ceremonies, end-of-season social gatherings, post-training group dinners)
  • Avoid carpools or bus travel with people from different household groups where possible; and
  • For local activities, we continue to limit spectators to one parent only, where the child requires parental supervision during the sporting activity.

We ask our clubs to please share this information and communicate with your players, parents, spectators and club officials.
