Two first half goals have propelled Tarrawanna to their second win of the season after an impressive performance over Bellambi on Saturday afternoon.
Zac Mazevski’s half volley in the 19th minute opened the scoring for the hosts and their lead was doubled in the 37th minute after the reliable Matt Naylor converted a penalty.
Bellambi started the game deep into the Blueys’ territory and remained there for the opening period of the game but they just lacked that final pass.
Tarrawanna quickly turned the momentum of the game in the 19th minute with one of their first real chances being converted when a pin-point cross found Mazevski at the edge of the box and his shot on the half volley was good enough to give the hosts the lead.
The Blueys could have had another just moments later after Todd Simpson miss hit a clearance which left Darren Stone one-on-one with Bryce Daenell. Stone chipped the oncoming keeper but saw his shot sail narrowly wide.
In the 33rd minute, the hosts could of easily had their second goal when Stone made darting run past the Bellambi defence which left him in a one-on-one with Daenell. He squared to Mazevski who with an open net overpowered it and sent it over the bar.
Tarrawanna’s persistence paid off in the 37th minute when Sean Poulton looked to take down Mazevski in the box whilst going for the ball, ultimately conceding a penalty. Matt Naylor sent Daenell the wrong way and neatly buried his shot to give the Blueys a two-goal lead
The hosts continued their pressure in the second half and would have been disappointed not to add to their lead when both Naylor and Caleb Grace saw their efforts bounce back off the bar.
Bellambi had a great opportunity to get back into the game when Liam Unicomb earned them a penalty in the 70th minute after Mazevski was adjudged to have taken him down. Vaughan Patterson stepped up for the visitors but had his penalty and follow up shot saved by Adam Rodriguez who made sure his side maintained a clean sheet.
Tarrawanna impressed in this game gaining their second win of the season in a rather dominant fashion against Bellambi who have been having a great season themselves. It was an uncharacteristic performance from Bellambi as they struggled to get going and make their presence felt.
