FFA CUP ROUND 4 REVIEW

Round four of the FFA Cup offered little favours for the seven remaining Illawarra clubs with just two making it through to the next round.

The standout result for the local clubs came at Macedonia Park with Wollongong United seeing off NPL 2 side SD Raiders in a five-goal thriller.

The Raiders were two goals up with goals from Mathew Barkho and former Kemblawarra Fury striker Anthony Proia before United mounted a stirring comeback to win 3-2.

Mitsuo Yamada, Zac McLaren and Dinko Terzic were the scorers for United.

Wollongong Olympic also landed a spot in the fifth round after overcoming Berowra Cobras on Sydney’s northern outskirts.

Olympic edged Berowra 2-1 with their goals coming from youngsters Josh Hawker and Tory Musumeci.

Unanderra are also still in the mix despite a frustrating evening in Sydney’s northern suburbs.

The Hearts were locked at 3-3 with Forest Killarney at the start of extra time before the lights at Melwood Oval went out and forced the match to be abandoned.

The remainder of the match will be played next Tuesday night at Valentine Sports Park.

Tarrawanna and South Coast Flame had imposing matchups against NPL 1 opposition with neither side able to cause a massive upset.

The Blueys lost 5-1 to Blacktown City at Ian McLennan Park while the Flame went down 7-1 to Sutherland at Seymour Shaw.

Bulli made a disappointing exit at the hands of Manly Warringah Premier League outfit Manly Vale with Julio Miranda’s side going down 2-1.

Cringila’s first-ever FFA Cup campaign came to an end away to Menai Hawks with the Sutherland Shire FA side winning 1-0.
