2019 Men’s Premiership Fixtures

The 2019 Illawarra Mercury Premier League kicks off on 23 March with a bumper round of action.

Reigning League and Grand Final winners, Bulli, host Corrimal Rangers, the team they edged past on the final day of the 2018 regular season to clinch the league title.

Coniston reacquaint themselves with the top flight with a home match against losing Grand Finalists Wollongong United. Interestingly enough, Jeff Allport, the man who guided United to the Grand Final will be in the home dugout.

Wollongong Olympic host Cringila, Tarrawanna welcome South Coast United and Woonona visit Fernhill in the other three games of the opening day of the season.

The lone Sunday match sees two of last year’s top five go head-to-head at Wetherall Park with Port Kembla facing Albion Park White Eagles.

The newly-redeveloped Ian McLennan Park will host Premier League football for the first time in Round 2 with South Coast hosting Fernhill under lights.

Saturday evening football will be a feature of 2019 with South Coast United and Cringila both hosting games after the traditional 2.30pm kick off.

Fans have to wait until Round 8 for a replay of last year’s decider with Wollongong United travelling to Balls Paddock on 11 May – eight days before Bulli visit the PCYC to take on Olympic in the clash which has gone a long way to deciding the League title in the last two seasons.

The highlight of the opening round in the Peoplecare District League is Bellambi Rosellas hosting last season’s losing Grand Finalists Warilla Wanderers. The reverse of this fixture opened the 2018 season with the Rosellas thumping their opposition 9-0.

After being relegated, Picton Rangers begin life in the second division with a home tie against Oak Flats while elsewhere, Balgownie Rangers take on University, Unanderra travel to Berkeley Sports and Thirroul Thunder visit Kiama Quarriers.

There are seven matches scheduled for Sundays – a first for the region’s second division. The first coming in Round 1 with Shell Cove hosting Helensburgh Thistle.
