Coniston FC is making a solid debut as the new club in the WPL. They are led by Kellie McIntyre, who is having a breakout season herself.
As we make the turn into the business end of the season, Coniston FC find themselves in a battle for a playoff spot with fellow debutants Shoalhaven FC. These two sides meet this weekend in what promises to have a playoff vibe.
Shoalhaven is one point clear in fourth place and has a game in hand; however, a win for Coniston this weekend could see them get the upper hand.
Kellie noted, “It was a building year for the club, and through Nick Tortorella (Coach), we are trying to play a good style of football”.
There is a positive vibe at the club, and it’s not just their First Grade that is making headway. The Second and Youth Grades sit firmly inside the playoff spots and are still in with a chance at taking out the league premiership.
Youth Captain Claudia Gaudiosi has been one of the form players at the club and has already featured in several first-team appearances. With a young club squad, the club is setting itself up for seasons ahead.
Shellharbour JFC has a handy lead, and the next few weeks could see them clinch the premiership title. If they can’t get positive results, Woonona is ready to pounce.
